St. John’s Returns to Action at Marquette

Red Storm will close out 2025 in Milwaukee on Monday night at the Al McGuire Center
QUEENS, N.Y. – Following the holiday break, the St. John's Women's Basketball team will travel to Milwaukee for a Monday night matchup at Marquette to close out 2025.
Monday's matchup at Al McGuire Center will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET. The BIG EAST contest will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Bob Brainerd and Chloe Marotta on the call.
In its last time out, The Red Storm (11-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) fell on the road to Villanova, 85-48, on Dec. 22 at Finneran Pavilion. Shaulana Wagner (11), Brooke Moore (11) and Janeya Grant (10) scored in double-figures during the setback.
Moore notched her 10th double-digit scoring effort in the last 11 games and paces the team, averaging 14.9 points per contest. The Kennesaw, Ga., native is shooting 59.8% from the field, which leads the league and ranks 19th in NCAA Division I. As a team, the Johnnies rank 21st nationally in team field goal percentage, shooting 47.5% from the floor.
Moore earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, marking her third conference honor this season. The Liberty transfer had made an immediate impact since arriving in Queens. In addition to her scoring prowess, the junior leads the team in rebounding (5.9 RPG), blocks (1.3 BPG) and 3-point shooting (48.0%).
Wagner continues to be one of the top distributors across the nation, ranking 19th in the country with 75 total assists through 14 games. The Troy transfer ranks atop the league, logging 5.4 helpers per game.
St. John's and Marquette (8-4, 2-1 BIG EAST) will meet for the 37th time on Monday evening, with the series dating back to Dec. 6, 2005, when the Golden Eagles joined the conference. Marquette leads the all-time series, 23-13, with the Red Storm claiming two of the last three contests. The Johnnies swept their league foe for the first time since 2017 during the 2023-24 season before Marquette edged St. John's last season, 57-55, on Feb.5, 2025, in Milwaukee.
Marquette enters the matchup with an 8-4 overall record and a 2-1 mark in league competition during the 2025 campaign. The Golden Eagles most recently knocked off Division II opponent Truman State, 86-43, on Dec. 20 to close the non-conference slate.
The Golden Eagles have emerged as one of the nation's top long-range shooting teams, ranking sixth in NCAA Division I in 3-point percentage (39.7%). Marquette has five players who shoot 40% or better from beyond the arc.
Skylar Forbes leads Marquette, averaging 16.8 points per game on 49.7% shooting from the field and 41.2% from 3-point land. Forbes ranks second in the league and 35th in the country with 1.83 blocks per game. Halle Vice provides 13.3 points per game and is shooting an efficient 58.2% from the floor, which ranks third in the BIG EAST and 24th in the country. The senior is additionally the team's top rebounder and sits second in the conference, pulling down 8.2 boards per contest.
Following Monday's road tilt, St. John's will ring in the New Year on Jan. 1 when it hosts DePaul at 2 p.m. from Carnesecca Arena.
