ROCK HILL, S.C. – The St. John's softball team (7-7-1) took down Le Moyne, 9-0, on Sunday morning to finish its time at the Garnet and Gold Tournament with a 4-1 record.
The Johnnies opened the weekend by taking down the Dolphins and Youngstown State in run-rule fashion on Friday. Yesterday, the Red Storm shut out Brown, before dropping the latter game to Winthrop in extra innings. Today marks St. John's third run-rule victory of the tournament, winning in five innings against Le Moyne.
Shortstop London Jarrard went 4-for-4 on the day with three singles while bringing home three runs. The senior finishes the weekend with 13 RBIs, upping her total to 15 on the season.
Loreley Francia picked up her team-leading fifth victory inside the circle, tossing three scoreless frames to open the contest. The right-hander struck out four batters while not allowing a hit.
Outfielder Elanna Lysiak notched two hits in the contest, including an RBI double in the third inning to put the contest out of reach.
The Red Storm jumped out to an early lead when Jess Bianco led off the contest with a walk and promptly swiped second before a Madison Konopka sacrifice bunt advanced her to third. Jarrard then sent a single up the middle to give the Johnnies an early 1-0 lead.
After plunking the first batter of the contest, Francia retired the next three, including striking out the third out to hold St. John's one-run edge after an inning of play.
Melanie Santos started the second by lacing a hard ground ball to short, reaching first on the play. An out later, Lysiak sent a single up the middle and an error allowed her to move up to second and Santos to advance to third. Bianco then sent a ground ball back to the pitcher, who attempted to nab Santos at third but was unsuccessful, loading the bases. Santos then scored on a wild pitch, 2-0, before Jarrard delivered a two-RBI single back up the middle, 4-0. Cassidy Stouffer then lined a ball to short, resulting in an error, allowing Jarrard to score, 5-0.
Francia added two more punchouts in the bottom of the second to hold the score, keeping the Red Storm up five runs after two innings of play.
In the top of the third, Natalie Casto led off by driving a double into left-center before Lysiak followed up with a double down the left-field line to give the Red Storm a 6-0 lead. Lysiak then came around on a wild pitch, upping the Johnnies' advantage to 7-0.

Jarrard then tallied her fourth single of the ballgame, putting runners on the corners. In a Jarrard steal of second, Seaton managed to come home, giving the Red Storm a nine-run lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Banda closed out the game, recording a 1-2-3 inning to seal the 9-0 victory for the Johnnies.
