St. John’s to Close Out Regular Season at DePaul

The Red Storm will battle the Blue Demons at 3 p.m. in Chicago
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will close out the 2024-25 regular season by squaring off with DePaul at 3 p.m. inside Wintrust Arena on Sunday in Chicago.
Sunday's regular-season finale will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Peter Ferreri and Alexis Ayala on the call from the Windy City. Live Stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm (15-13, 5-12 BIG EAST) took down Georgetown, 83-49, on Wednesday night inside Carnesecca Arena for Senior Night. The Johnnies dominated the Hoyas in the second stanza, outscoring them 54-15, including an 18-2 scoring run to open the third quarter to erase a five-point first-half deficit.
St. John's knocked down 13 triples in the decisive victory over Georgetown, tying its second-highest total in program history and the most since Feb. 6, 2022, when the Johnnies routed Xavier, 96-62. The Red Storm shot 52.9 percent from long range over the final 20 minutes, nailing 10 triples.
Fresh off her sixth BIG EAST Honor Roll nod of the season, Lashae Dwyer tied her career-high of 25 points in her final game inside Carnesecca Arena against the Hoyas. The senior shot 10-for-18 (55.6%) from the field and 4-for-8 (50%) from 3-point range.
The Toronto native logged five steals in Wednesday's contest, moving her into seventh all-time with 85 this season, the most by a Red Storm player in 30 years. Dwyer's BIG EAST-leading 85 steals and 3.0 swipes per game rank 11th and 12th in the nation, respectively.
Ber'Nyah Mayo went off for a season-high 20 points and a game-high five assists in her final regular season game at Carnesecca Arena. The graduate student was efficient shooting the ball, going 7-for-11 (63.6%) from the floor.
Janeya Grant had the best performance of her freshman season, catching fire from beyond-the-arc with three triples to finish with nine points.
The Red Storm limited the Hoyas to just 49 points on Wednesday, marking the 10th time this season St. John's has held its opponent to under 50 points this season. On the year, the squad checks in at 24th in the country in scoring defense, allowing only 56 points per game to the opposition.
St. John's and DePaul will meet for the 34th time, with the Blue Demons leading the series dating back to 2006, 25-8. In the last outing between the two teams, DePaul came away with a 67-60 victory in Queens on Jan. 7. Mayo paced St. John's with 15 points on 50 percent shooting from the field.
The Blue Demons will host the Johnnies with a 12-18 overall record and a 7-10 mark in the BIG EAST. DePaul most recently faced off with Seton Hall at Walsh Gymnasium on Thursday, falling in the contest by a score of 76-67.
Jorie Allen leads the Blue Demons with 19.8 points per game on 46.6 percent shooting and 3.9 assists per contest. Allen's 19.8 points per game leads the BIG EAST and ranks 24th in the nation. The graduate student has posted 15 20-point performances, two 30-point outings and has scored in double-figures in every game this season.
Following Sunday's regular-season finale, St. John's will look ahead to the BIG EAST Tournament at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., from March 7-10.
