Noemi Babikova and Alicia Gomez Tabbed BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week

The duo went 2-0 in doubles action this weekend against Seton Hall and Hofstra
NEW YORK, N.Y. – After winning a pair of matches this past weekend against Seton Hall and Hofstra, Noemi Babikova and Alicia Gomez were tabbed BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
This is the second weekly award for the St. John's women's tennis team this season and the first time Babikova and Gomez have garnered BIG EAST honors in their careers. Sandra Dzhambazov and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde previously earned Doubles Team of the Week honors on March 3.
The Johnnies earned back-to-back victories last weekend, defeating BIG EAST foe Seton Hall, 6-1, on Saturday in West Orange, N.J., before shutting out Hofstra, 4-0, on Sunday in Queens.
Both of the duo's victories came on the No. 1 doubles court en route to helping the Red Storm claim the team doubles point in both contests. Against the Pirates, they kicked off doubles action with a shutout 6-0 victory against Paige Wise and Rachel Benoualid. On Sunday, the pair of second-year Johnnies defeated Hofstra's Amanda Kadiri and Deniz Soyer, 6-2.
With the two wins this weekend, Gomez and Babikova improved to 3-0 as a pair this season, with all three triumphs coming on the No. 1 court.
The Johnnies will return to action on Friday when they travel to Chicago to face DePaul. First serve from the XS Tennis Village is set for 12:15 p.m. (ET).
