St. John’s To Wrap Four Game Homestand Against No. 17/17 Fairfield

The Johnnies and Stags will square off for the first time since 2022
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's lacrosse team will wrap up its four-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon when No. 17/17 Fairfield comes to Queens. Faceoff from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 4 p.m.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Johnny Gadamowitz and Kevin Connelly on the call, live stats will be available at RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm (2-3) will begin the month of March after winning a pair of games in February over NJIT and Quinnipiac. St. John's is coming off two consecutive overtime losses against Hofstra on Feb. 22 and Jacksonville on Feb. 28.
Preseason All-BIG EAST Selection Brian Kelly continues to lead the Johnnies through the early part of the schedule, dominating the month of January. The second-year captain scored two goals against the Dolphins last Friday, giving him a team-best 24 points and 13 goals to go along with 11 helpers. Leading up to Friday's game, Kelly had at least five points in each of the Red Storm's first games of the season and has found the back of the net in eight consecutive contests, dating back to last season.
The two points against the Dolphins give the Red Hook, N.Y., native 160 in his career, tying him with Kevin Cenuto for fourth place on the program's all-time scoring list. Kelly currently stands 17th in the country and second in the BIG EAST with 4.8 points each game.
The remainder of the Red Storm attack has continued to produce through five games this season, helping St. John's to the No. 1 scoring offense in the conference in 2025, scoring 12.6 goals a game. Redshirt sophomore Adrian Nowak had a goal and a helper against Jacksonville, recording multiple points for the fifth straight game to begin the season. Nowak leads the team with 13 assists and is ninth nationally and second in the BIG EAST with 2.8 assists per game.
Freshman Mitch Campbell has started each of the past two contests for third-year Head Coach Justin Turri and has exploded onto the scene, tallying 11 points over the team's current three-game homestand. Despite not appearing in the last two games for St. John's, Ryan Ormond is still second on the team with 12 goals, averaging a blistering 4.0 points per game to start his career.
Kelly, Nowak, Ormond and Campbell have combined for 70 points through five games this season and have accounted for 40 of the team's 62 goals.
Rookie Jayson Cardenas had the best game of his young career on Friday against Jacksonville, totaling a hat trick and an assist, including finding the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter, helping St. John's rally from three goals down in the final frame. Five of the Middle Island, N.Y., product's seven points this season have come in the past two games.
Bobby Seel had a multipoint effort against Jacksonville, extending his point streak to a team-best 21 games. The senior has scored in all five of the Red Storm's games this season.
Defensively, netminder Patrick Scarborough had a career day against Jacksonville, stopping 16 of the 27 shots he faced. The 16 saves are his most in a game in a St. John's uniform and marks the third time in four appearances this season he has made at least 14 stops. Scarborough leads the BIG EAST and is 13th in the country with 13.25 saves per game, while his 53 percent save rate is the third highest in the conference.
Sophomore LSM Dylan Lee and freshman defenseman Quinn Falasca are tied for the lead in the BIG EAST and 18th nationally with 2 caused turnovers per game. Falasca had four forced giveaways against Quinnipiac last Tuesday and also leads the Johnnies with 19 groundballs. His 3.8 loose balls per game are the fifth most in the conference and second-best among non-specialists.
Tuesday will be the eighth meeting between the Stags and the Johnnies and the first since a 17-14 St. John's win in 2022. The Red Storm own a 4-3 lead in the all-time series.
Fairfield took down BIG EAST foe Providence on Saturday, 15-7, advancing to 5-0 this season. The Stags, one of just four undefeated Division I teams, have earned wins over Manhattan, Sacred Heart, Brown and Lehigh.
Devin Lampron leads Fairfield offensively, entering Tuesday's contest in Queens with 12 goals and a helper. Keegan Lynch also has 13 points in 2025, netting six goals and adding seven assists. The Fairfield offense scores 11.4 goals each game and converts on just 24.6 percent of its attempts on net
Defensively, the Stags are third in the nation, causing 11.4 turnovers per game, and own the country's seventh-best scoring defense, allowing just 7.6 goals each contest. Julian Radossich anchors the Fairfield backline, causing a nationwide-best 3.4 turnovers per game.
In net, Owen Hirsch has allowed just 36 goals in five games played and is stopping 60 percent of the shots he faces. At the faceoff, 'X', Dylan Smith and Daniel Davis have split time, combining to win 54.5 percent of draws.
Following Tuesday's contests against Fairfield, St. John's will hit the road for the first time since Feb. 15 when it travels north to take on Bryant on Saturday, March 8.
