QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's golf team will continue its spring campaign on Wednesday when it begins the 54-hole Sacred Heart Spring Invite in Florida.
The Red Storm will play in the two-day, three-round event on March 5-6 at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament on SCOREBOARD.
The Johnnies will compete in a nine-team field against- Bryant, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, Manhattan, Monmouth, the hosts Sacred Heart and Siena.
St. John's returns to the course after nearly a month since its last competition, when it finished tied for seventh at the Orange County Collegiate Classic in California. Peicheng Chen won his third tournament of the season after shooting a 6-under, 210, in Coto de Caza, Calif. The senior becomes just the third Red Storm golfer since 1997 to win three individual titles in a single-season joining Andy Svoboda (2000 & '02) and Keegan Bradley (2007-08) in achieving that mark. The reigning BIG EAST Champion is one of just three players in NCAA Division I to claim medalist honors three times this season as of Feb. 26.
The Red Storm will play two rounds on Wednesday before concluding the event in the Sunshine State on Thursday morning.
