St. John’s Continues BIG EAST Play with DePaul

The Red Storm ride a four-game winning streak and an 8-1 conference record into this weekend
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's softball team is set to continue BIG EAST play when it welcomes DePaul to Queens for a three-game series this weekend at Red Storm Field.
Due to forecasted inclement weather, the Red Storm and Blue Demons will play a doubleheader on Friday at noon and 2 p.m. The series finale is set for noon on Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will be streamed on FloSports, while Saturday's contest will be an audio-only broadcast. Live Stats for all games will be provided on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies improved to 27-10-1 after toppling Wagner, 9-0, in six innings on Wednesday in Staten Island. N.Y. Last weekend, St. John's swept Providence for the first time since the 2021 season. The Red Storm enters the weekend with an 8-1 mark in BIG EAST play, marking its best start in the conference since 2019 when it started 11-1.
The Red Storm pitching staff has continued to dominate, ranking first in all of Division I with 9.60 strikeouts per seven innings and 346 punchouts total. Juniors Ana Serafinko and Loreley Francia continue to lead the squad, accumulating 319 combined strikeouts in 2025.
On Wednesday, Francia notched her third double-digit strikeout performance, punching out 10 batters in a shutout performance against the Seahawks. The Spring, Texas native holds a team-low 1.46 ERA and has struck out 134 batters in 110.1 innings pitched.
Serafinko ranks second in the nation and tops the BIG EAST conference with 185 strikeouts in 116 innings this season. On Monday, the left-hander was named the conference's pitcher of the week for the second consecutive week after going 2-0 in four appearances with a 0.39 ERA and 23 punchouts in 18 innings pitched. Serafinko helped lead the Red Storm to its sweep of Providence, notching complete games in the opening and final contest while tallying a save in the middle contest
London Jarrard launched her seventh home run against Wagner, blasting a two-run shot in the sixth inning. Along with her seven homers, the shortstop leads the Red Storm with a .420/.529/.661 slash line, nine doubles and 40 RBIs. Jarrard was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after going 5-for-12 (.417) with a home run and five RBIs across four games last week.
Celia Macari continued to stay hot from the dish on Wednesday with a two-run double along with a bases-loaded walk to lead the squad with three RBIs. The catcher has now recorded a hit in six of her last seven contests and has totaled five two-baggers and 14 RBIs in 2025.
Jess Bianco notched two hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases against the Seahawks. The junior has been a threat on the basepaths all season for the Red Storm, accumulating a team-high 52 hits, 42 runs scored and 23 stolen bases this season.
DePaul begins the weekend with a 13-17 overall record and a 1-8 mark in the BIG EAST. The Blue Demons most recently took down Valparaiso in eight innings after being swept by Providence in their last conference series.
Sophomore Lydia Ettema leads DePaul's lineup, batting .315 with four home runs and 16 RBIs. Inside the circle, Bella Nigey tops the Blue Demons' staff with a .196 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 59.2 innings pitched this season.
St. John's and DePaul have met on 49 previous occasions with the Blue Demons leading the all-time series with a 37-12 record.
In last year's series, the Red Storm swept DePaul by shutting out the Blue Demons in all three games in the Windy City. Serafinko had a historic day in the opening contest on March 28, 2024, tossing a run-rule no-hitter while crushing a grand slam to become the first DI player since Miranda Elish in 2019 to accomplish the feat.
Following this weekend, the Red Storm will stay at home when it welcomes Stony Brook to Queens for a Tuesday matchup at 2:30 p.m.
