Both seniors were tabbed to the league’s second team
NEW YORK (April 30, 2025) – For the second straight season, Brian Kelly and Bobby Seel of the St. John's lacrosse program were named All-BIG EAST selections by the conference's coaching staffs, the league's office announced on Wednesday. Both athletes garnered second-team honors after combining for 95 points this season.
Kelly recorded career-bests of 36 goals and 25 points, becoming the first St. John's athlete to eclipse the 60-point mark in a season since the program's all-time leading scorer, Keiran McArdle, did it in 2013 and 2014. The Red Hook, N.Y., native opened 2025 with four consecutive games of at least five points and finished the season with five performances tallying at least six. He scored four or more goals in three games and hit the five-score mark on April 12 against Villanova.
The four-year letterwinner finishes his illustrious St. John's career on a 17-game point streak, dating back to last season, and having hit the 40-point mark in all four seasons in Queens. Kelly, a two-year team captain, has racked up 197 career points and 117 goals, both third highest in program history.
In 2025, he ranked third in the BIG EAST with 4.1 points per game and third in the conference, scoring 2.4 goals each contest.
Seel hit the 30-point mark for the second year in a row, going for 20 goals and 14 assists this season. The four-year Johnnie finishes his time in Queens with at least one point in 30 of his final 31 games, dating back to 2023, and with 91 career points, 21st-most in program history.
This year, the attackman-turned-midfielder found the back of the net in 12 games, tallied three hat tricks and hit the three-point mark six times. Against Mercer on March 15, the Garden City, N.Y., product had three goals and three assists, matching his career-high with six points.
In 2024, Kelly became the first Red Storm player to be named to the conference's first team since Eric DeJohn in 2016, while Seel collected second-team honors. Both were selected to the 2025 All-BIG EAST Preseason Team.
Seel and Kelly become the first Red Storm teammates selected to the all-conference teams in consecutive years since Joe Madsen and Aidan Marron each earned back-to-back second team nods in 2018 and 2019.
This is the 10th year since 2010 the Red Storm has had multiple representatives on the all-conference teams.
