Kelly is the third-leading scorer in St. John’s history
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's lacrosse senior Brian Kelly was signed on waivers by the Boston Cannons of the Premier Lacrosse League, the team announced on Wednesday.
Kelly, a two-year team captain with the Red Storm, racked up 197 career points and 117 goals, both third highest in program history.
The two-time All-BIG EAST player recorded career-bests of 36 goals and 25 points in 2025, becoming the first St. John's athlete to eclipse the 60-point mark in a season since the program's all-time leading scorer, Keiran McArdle, did it in 2013 and 2014. The Red Hook, N.Y., native opened 2025 with four consecutive games of at least five points and finished the season with five performances tallying at least six. He scored four or more goals in three games and hit the five-score mark on April 12 against Villanova.
The four-year letterwinner finishes his illustrious St. John's career on a 17-game point streak, dating back to last season, and having hit the 40-point mark in all four seasons in Queens. In 2025, he ranked third in the BIG EAST with 4.1 points per game and third in the conference, scoring 2.4 goals each contest.
In 2024, Kelly became the first Red Storm player to be named to the conference's first team since DeJohn.
Kelly becomes the first Red Storm player heading to the pros since Matt Duncan was drafted by the National Lacrosse League's Albany Firewolves in 2022.
