Shaun McMillan Named to NCBWA Freshman All-American Second Team

McMillan was one of two BIG EAST players to earn Freshman All-American honors
LYNCHBURG, Va. – St. John's baseball standout Shaun McMillan named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association (NCBWA) Second Team Freshman All-American, the organization announced on Monday.
The Freeport, N.Y., native becomes the first NCBWA Freshman All-American from St. John's since Sean Mooney in 2017, when he was named the organization's Freshman Pitcher of the Year.
McMillan had a breakout rookie campaign for the Johnnies and was named to the Freshman All-American at the designated hitter position. The slugger was one of just two BIG EAST players to earn the honor joining pitcher Wilson Magers of Creighton.
During his rookie season in Queens, the designated hitter appeared in 49 games, making 45 starts and delivered a slash line of .328 / .570 / .403. The All-BIG EAST First Team selection smacked a team-high nine home runs and tallied 51 RBI's, the latter of which ranked seventh in the BIG EAST.
McMillan garnered recognition throughout the year earning a pair of BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nods on March 10 and the final edition on May 19. The rookie standout got stronger as the season went on logging .393 /.440/.674 adding 28 RBI's and 16 runs scored during BIG EAST competition.
The Lawrenceville School product recorded 17 multi-hit games and a trio of four hit outings in league contests against Xavier (April 13), Georgetown (May 2) and Butler (May 15).
