Bishop-Santillo earns the prestigious honor for the second time in her career
ELMSFORD, N.Y.– St. John's Women's Golf Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo was named the 2025 Metropolitan Section of the PGA of America Player Development award winner, the organization announced.
One of the most highly competitive and accomplished areas in the country for golf professionals, the Metropolitan Section of the PGA of America presents these awards annually to members who have made a distinct impact in the community. Bishop-Santillo earned the Player Development Award in recognition of her commitment to spearheading inclusive programs that expand the access and engagement at every level of golf in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area.
The longtime Head Coach receives this honor for the second time in her decorated career, as she received the Player Development award in 2012. She will be recognized at the organization's annual awards dinner this coming fall.
Bishop-Santillo also earned the honor for leading the St. John's Women's Golf program, where she has served as the Head Coach for 21 completed seasons. During her tenure in Queens, Bishop-Santillo has guided the Johnnies to 26 tournament championships, 38 individual winners and a BIG EAST title in 2005.
Off the course, her program has excelled in the classroom as the Red Storm have ranked inside the top-20 in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Team Scholar Rankings as one of the highest achieving academic programs in the entire country for five straight years.
In addition to leading the Red Storm, Bishop-Santillo serves as the Assistant Golf Professional at Saint Andrew's Golf Club, located in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
A former student-athlete, Bishop-Santillo was a four-year letterwinner on the women's golf team at Indiana University from 2000-04.
