Red Storm look to snap two-game skid at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team (2-3-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) will return home to face FDU (0-5-1, 0-0-0 NEC) on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
Thursday's game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Ralph Bednarczyk and Kevin Connelly on the call from Queens. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
Prior to the game, St. John's University will recognize all of those lost in the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001 with a moment of silence.
The Red Storm will look to bounce back and snap a two-game skid after falling to Columbia and Monmouth last week. On Sunday, the Hawks outlasted the Johnnies, 2-0, behind a pair of goals from Summer Reimet.
Standout senior goalkeeper Kayla Bower will look to continue her hot start to the 2025 campaign against the Knights. The Lincoln Park, N.J., native tallied a career-best six saves in the Red Storm's 2-0 loss to Monmouth, her fourth career-high effort through five matches this season. Bower's steady play led to conference recognition where she was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 1. The netminder ranks atop the conference logging 4.7 stops per outing.
Madison Mariani leads St. John's with two goals this season. The Richmond Hill, Canada, native was the deciding factor in each of the Red Storm's victories, giving St. John's the edge over Saint Joseph's (Aug. 24) and Youngstown State (Aug. 31). The forward has recorded a team-high nine shots with eight on target.
Since Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium opened in September 2002, the Red Storm hold an all-time record of 127-49-31 (.689) inside the venue. The Johnnies have recorded a winning record inside Belson each of the last six seasons.
The Red Storm are undefeated against the Knights all time, claiming all four prior meetings. The most recent bout, the 2023 season, resulted in a 3-0 St. John's win on Aug. 17.
FDU is searching for its first victory of the 2025 campaign and holds a 0-5-1 overall record. The Knights are coming off their seventh NEC Championship game appearance under 12th year Head Coach Eric Teepe in 2024.
Following the match, the men's soccer team will also take on FDU at 7 p.m. at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium. The women's soccer squad will be back in action on Sunday at 3 p.m. when it faces Boston College.
