St. John’s Cross Country Opens 2025 Season at Iona Meet of Champions

The Red Storm finished in eighth place
BRONX, N.Y. - The St. John's cross country program started their season at the Iona Meet of Champions, held at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning.
St. John's finished in eighth place out of nine schools, tallying 223 points.
The Red Storm were led by sophomore Naiara Garcia, who completed the 5k race in 19:58.9 and placing inside the top-50 in a field of over 90 competitors.
Princeton took home first place at the meeting totaling 19 points as the Tigers' Meg Madison was the top finisher posting a time of 17:32.40.
As a team, the Red Storm had an average time of 22:14.8. Following Garcia, newcomer Attoya Harvey stopped the clock in 20:29.8 in her first collegiate race for the Johnnies and Ana Dobsa rounded out the top three with her time of 22:05.
The Johnnies will take the next few weeks to prepare for the historic 51st Annual Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 3, hosted by Lehigh.
