St. John’s Finishes Third at UConn Invitational at GreatHorse

Red Storm card 5-under over final two rounds
HAMPDEN, Mass.– The St. John's Men's Golf team recorded a top-three finish at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse, tying for third place.
The Red Storm shot 5-under as a team across the final 36 holes in Hampden, Mass. The Johnnies shot 8-over, 872, over three rounds to tie for third with Rhode Island. The hosts, UConn, took home the tournament title after shooting even par, 864.
During Tuesday's final round, St. John's registered a 2-under, 286, as all four players who scored shot even or under par at GreatHorse.
Joseph Dolezal logged a career-best third place finish logging a 3-under, 212, just one stroke shy of the individual champion Markus Lam of Boston College. The Old Westbury, N.Y., native tallied a 1-under, 71, highlighted by an eagle on the 383-ard par-4 13thhole.
Matthew DiFiore posted the best finish of his young career taking 13th place after carding a 1-over, 213. The rookie posted an even par, 72, in the third round. Fellow freshman Eli Wedimann shot a 1-under, 71, to place tied for 20th overall collecting a 4-over, 220, over 54 holes.
Max McColgan rounded out the Red Storm scorers finishing with a 6-over, 215. The rookie became the fourth player to shoot even par logging a 72 at the UConn Invitational.
The St. John's men's golf squad will be back in action on October 20-21 at the Xavier Invitational at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.
