St. John’s Women’s Soccer to Face Monmouth on Sunday

Red Storm will battle Hawks at 1 p.m. at Hesse Field
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team (2-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when it battles Monmouth (4-2, 0-0 CAA) at 1 p.m. at Hesse Field in West Long Branch, N.J.
The Red Storm visits Hesse Field for a 1 p.m. kick-off against the Hawks. Sunday's contest will be streamed on FloSports with Jon Goss and Brauna Marks on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com
The Johnnies are coming off a 1-0 loss to Columbia at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium on Sept. 4. Senior goalkeeper Kayla Bower continued her hot start to the 2025 campaign, snagging four saves or more for the fourth-straight contest. Bower, the reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week, has tallied 18 saves through four matches.
Madison Mariani leads the Red Storm with two goals and four points as the sophomore scored in back-to-back wins over Saint Joseph's and Youngstown State. Leana Ruiz is the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after tallying a goal in her first collegiate start on Sunday.
The Red Storm defense has yet to concede more than one goal in a match this season as Bower holds a 0.75 GAA.
After starting the 2025 campaign 0-2, Monmouth has ripped off four-straight victories spanning from Aug. 21-Sept. 4. During that stretch, the Hawks have outscored their opponents 8-3, including shutouts against Binghamton and Temple.
St. John's and Monmouth are set to meet for the 15th time in program history. The Hawks own a 7-5-2 all-time record against the Red Storm. In last year's meeting between the two programs, the Red Storm and Hawks battled to a 0-0 scoreless draw in Queens.
The Johnnies will return to Queens on Thursday for a 4 p.m. contest against FDU as they continue their stretch of four home matches in five games.
