NEW YORK – St. John's track and field standout Nora Haugen was named the BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her record-breaking performance this weekend, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the second time this indoor season the senior has earned the honor and her third career selection. Haugen was previously named the conference's track athlete of the week on Dec. 17, 2025.
The Norway product was the highlight for the Johnnies at the Dr. Sander Scorcher on Saturday, breaking her own school record in the 800-meters with a time of 2 minutes, 3.90 seconds during the USA Pro/Elite section of the event.
Haugen finished seventh in a field filled with professional athletes and top collegiate competitors. She crossed the line ahead of two pros, including former national champions Nia Akins and Allie Wilson. Her time currently ranks fourth in the NCAA and sits atop the BIG EAST.
In addition to the half-mile, the mid-distance specialist was part of the 4x400-meter relay. The quartet of Johnnies ran 3:41.73 to take second at the Dr. Sander Scorcher.
Haugen and the Red Storm return to action Friday at Ocean Breeze as the team aims to capture its fourth consecutive Metropolitan Indoor Championship.
