The Red Storm are unbeaten, 3-0-3, against the Bluejays in Queens
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team will close out a two-game home stand on Saturday night to host Creighton at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. with Zachary Wilson on the call in Queens. Fans can tune into the contest on ESPN+.
Saturday's contest will serve as St. John's annual Pink Game presented by Main Street Radiology, as the Red Storm raises awareness for breast cancer research and honors those impacted by the disease. St. John's will recognize breast cancer survivor Rohini Kanhai during a special halftime ceremony, and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause. The first 250 fans will also receive a complimentary pink winter beanie and "Stronger Together" rally towel courtesy of Main Street Radiology.
St. John's (3-5-2, 0-1-1 BIG EAST) battled UConn to a scoreless draw on Wednesday night at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium. Despite facing a 14-3 shot differential, the Red Storm defense stood tall to record its fourth clean sheet of the season. Kayla Bower stopped all five shots on goal, including four saves in the opening 28 minutes, while Telma Steindórsdóttir helped preserve the draw with a key clearance near the net late in the second half. Leana Ruiz registered the Johnnies' lone shot on goal, while Leah Anand and Daniela Monzon also recorded attempts.
Bower has continued to anchor the Red Storm defense in goal, totaling 36 saves with a .800 save percentage and a 0.91 goals-against average through 10 matches. The graduate student has recorded four solo shutouts this season, matching her career high set in 2025, and now owns eight solo clean sheets across 40 career appearances. Her five saves against UConn pushed her career total to 157, while she sits just one second shy of 3,000 career minutes in goal.
Julianna Bivona has been a constant on the Red Storm backline, playing all 900 minutes through the first 10 contests. The sophomore is the only Johnnie to play every minute this season and has started all 10 matches after appearing in 13 contests during her freshman campaign at South Florida. Bivona has now logged 1,188 minutes across 23 collegiate appearances.
The Red Storm's defensive play has been a key strength heading into Creighton. St. John's has held opponents to one goal or fewer in seven of its last eight matches, recording four clean sheets during that span. The Johnnies have conceded just nine goals through 10 contests and only two through their first two BIG EAST matches. Offensively, St. John's has generated more opportunities after halftime, recording 51 of its 88 shots and five of its seven goals in the second half.
Bower has been especially effective since the start of conference play, making nine saves on 11 shots on goal for an .818 save percentage across matches against Villanova and UConn. She has played all 180 minutes of BIG EAST action and recorded one shutout, while Bivona and Anand have also played every minute through the first two league contests.
St. John's and Creighton will meet for the 14th time, with the Red Storm holding a 7-3-3 advantage in the all-time series. The Johnnies are unbeaten against the Bluejays in Queens, posting an undefeated 3-0-3 record at home, while owning a 4-2-0 mark in Omaha. St. John's has won five of the last seven meetings dating back to 2017, including three straight from 2023-24. The two sides last met on Nov. 1, 2025, when Creighton earned a 3-0 victory in Omaha.
Creighton entered the 2026 campaign picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST Preseason Poll. The Bluejays return four starters and 13 players from last season's squad and welcome 12 newcomers to the roster.
The Bluejays enter Saturday's contest with a 4-4-2 overall record and a 0-1-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Creighton most recently fell to Villanova, 2-1, on Wednesday with Radleigh Childers providing the Bluejays' lone goal in the setback.
Following Saturday's contest, the Red Storm will travel to Butler on Oct. 7 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl.
