Chase Huggard Earns Freshman of the Week with Ryan Ormond Being Named to Honor Roll
NEW YORK – On Monday, Chase Huggard was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, while sophomore Ryan Ormond earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the conference.
This marks the first conference weekly honor of Huggard's career, while Ormond earns conference recognition for the second time after being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Feb. 10, 2025.
The freshman midfielder recorded career highs in goals (2), assists (2) and points (4) in a standout performance in the 12-11 setback to Delaware, adding three shots on goal and three ground balls. The honor highlights a strong start through the first two games of his collegiate career.
Ormond delivered a dominant outing against the Blue Hens, tallying three goals and two assists for five points while placing five shots on target. The Waxhaw, N.C., native has carried his momentum into the 2026 campaign, totaling four goals and three assists for seven points, the second-highest mark on the team. The performance marked his seventh career multi-point game and fifth with at least four points.
The Johnnies will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Hamden, Conn., to take on Quinnipiac at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium. Faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
