The Red Storm men’s basketball team rides a seven-game winning streak into its contest with the Blue Demons at Wintrust Arena
QUEENS, N.Y. - The No. 25/24 St. John's men's basketball team (16-5, 9-1 BIG EAST) will return to the hardwood on Tuesday when it visits DePaul for an 8 p.m. ET contest at Wintrust Arena.
The game will air on Peacock with Nick Bahe and Noah Reed on the call. The LEARFIELD St. John's Radio Network broadcast will be available with John Minko and Tarik Turner on 1050 AM, the ESPN New York App, the Varsity Network, TuneIn, Sirius XM Channel 385, the SiriusXM App and the St. John's Red Storm App.
The Johnnies have won seven straight games dating back to an 86-70 triumph at Butler on Jan. 6. St. John's seven game win streak ranks the fifth longest active stretch among Power Five programs. The Red Storm is off to a 9-1 start in BIG EAST play for the second-straight season. Over its last 30 games against BIG EAST opponents, St. John's has won 28 contests during that span, dating back to the start of 2025.
The Red Storm owns a 5-0 record on the road this season, the program's longest stretch since the Johnnies won six consecutive games away from home in 1982-83. Dating back to Feb. 19, 2025, Rick Pitino's squad has rattled off eight straight road victories over BIG EAST opponents. With a win on Tuesday, St. John's will tie for the longest streak of wins away from home matching the nine-game stretch from Jan. 2, 1985-Jan. 1986.
Dillon Mitchell has played a key role during the Red Storm's win streak, which coincided with his return to the starting five. The senior is averaging 11.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists over a seven-game span. The forward has tallied three double-doubles in the last four games, including a 14-point, season-high 13-rebound performance against Butler on Wednesday. Mitchell was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week on Monday.
Zuby Ejiofor continues to guide the Red Storm leading the team in scoring (15.7 PPG), rebounding (7.5 RPG), assists (3.2 APG) and blocks (2.0 BPG per game). The forward is one point from becoming the 54th player in St. John's men's basketball history to reach the 1,000-career point mark while in Queens.
During the winning streak, St. John's has made major improvements in taking care of the basketball and controlling the glass. Over the last seven games, St John's has committed just 8.4 turnovers per game and boasts a plus-5.0 rebounding margin. The Red Storm has outrebounded or tied its opponent in six of the last seven contests and has logged 12.9 offensive boards per game during that span.
In the first meeting between the two teams, St. John's topped DePaul, 79-66, in its BIG EAST opener at Carnesecca Arena on Dec. 16. Dylan Darling led five Johnnies in double-figures with a season-high 17 points.
The Red Storm has won each of the last eight meetings against the Blue Demons and six of the last seven meetings in Chicago. The Johnnies lead the all-time series, 36-22.
DePaul (12-10, 4-7 BIG EAST) is coming off a heartbreaking defeat on Saturday to Xavier, 68-66, in Cincinnati. The Blue Demons tied the game on a 3-pointer from CJ Gunn with six seconds to go before the Musketeers sunk a buzzer-beating jumper.
