St. John’s Prepares to Face Drexel on Wednesday

The Johnnies are 3-0 after a dominant opening week
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Drexel at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
With wins last week over Quinnipiac, FDU and Siena, the Red Storm opened the 2026 campaign with a 3-0 record.
Semen Agynskyy and Adam Groves swept the BIG EAST weekly honors, Agynskyy earned singles player of the week recognition while the duo claimed doubles team of the week accolades. Agynskyy went a perfect 4-0 overall during the opening week of the season, highlighted by a pair of doubles victories alongside Groves against Quinnipiac and FDU.
Radomir Tomic is also off to a strong start in singles play, posting a 2-0 record last weekend. Sergej Zivkovic earned his first victory in a St. John's uniform with a straight sets win over Quinnipiac's Alessandro Sciacca, 6-2, 6-2.
Drexel enters Wednesday's matchup with a 2-1 record, most recently earning a 7-0 win over BIG EAST foe Villanova on Saturday. The Dragons return a 2025 All-CAA Third Team selection, who has opened the dual season with a 2-1 singles mark. Tarek Mo Erlewein has led the way in singles competition, beginning the campaign a perfect 3-0 without dropping a set.
In doubles play, Erlewein and Burridge have teamed up for a 3-0 record this season, with all three victories coming on the No. 1 court. Antonio Franquis and Josue Guzman are 2-1 on the year at the No. 2 position.
St. John's will look to secure its fifth straight victory over Drexel, a streak that dates back to 2020. Last season, Head Coach Dillon Pottish's squad traveled to Philadelphia and earned a 4-2 win over the Dragons.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Red Storm will head north to face Cornell on Saturday at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
