St. John’s Earns 7-0 Sweep Over Rider

Red Storm improve to 3-2 in 2026
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team turned in a commanding performance on Friday, sweeping Rider, 7–0. With the victory, the Red Storm return to the win column and improve to 3–2 on the season.
The Johnnies set the tone early by capturing all three doubles matches before completing the sweep in singles play at the USTA National Tennis Center.
Captain Alicia Gomez and Abi Redman opened doubles action with a 6–2 victory over Dani Naves and Jolie Kaiser on the No. 1 court, marking their third win together this season. St. John's secured the doubles point on the No. 2 court as Victoria Papadopoulou and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde defeated Lisa Dierick and Kashish Kant, 6–3. Charlotta Buss and Nao Kojima also took home a victory to claim all three doubles matches.
In singles play, Buss led the Johnnies with a straight-sets victory on the No. 5 court, defeating Elle Catanzarite, 6–0, 6–2. St. John's extended its lead to 2–0 as Abi Redman capped off a perfect day on the No. 4 court with a 6–0, 6–2 win over Anna Bong.
The Red Storm clinched the match on the No. 2 court, where Nao Kojima secured a 6–4, 6–1 triumph to improve to 3-2 in the spring. Gomez, Sartz-Lunde, and Papadopoulou all earned singles victories, with the trio surrendering just one set combined to complete the sweep.
Up next, the Johnnies are set to host Monmouth at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
