St. John’s Gears Up for Weekend Contests with Rider and Monmouth

The Red Storm welcome Rider on Friday before hosting Monmouth on Sunday.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team is set for a pair of matches against Rider and Monmouth this weekend.
St. John's will host Rider (0-1) on Friday before welcoming Monmouth (0-2) on Sunday, with both contests set to be played at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. on Friday and 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Last weekend, Lauren Leo's squad hosted Fairfield and delivered a dominant 4–0 victory over the Stags behind standout performances from Victoria Papadopoulou and Noemi Babikova. The Red Storm then traveled to Princeton on Feb. 1, where they fell to the Tigers, moving to 2–2 on the season.
Rider returns to Queens for the third consecutive season. St. John's claimed each of the previous two meetings. The Broncs opened their 2026 campaign with a tightly contested loss at Lehigh on Jan. 31. Last season, Rider posted a 5–3 mark in MAAC play before falling to Siena in the opening round of the conference tournament.
Monmouth enters the weekend at 0–2, with losses to Lehigh and CAA foe Stony Brook. Head coach Patrice Murray is in her 40th season leading the Hawks' women's tennis program.
This matchup marks the fourth consecutive season the two programs have met, dating back to 2023, with Leo's squad winning each of the previous three contests.
