St. John’s Finishes Eighth at Donald Ross Intercollegiate

Red Storm shot 11-over over 54 holes at Mid Pines Golf Club
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.- The St. John's men's golf team finished the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic on Wednesday, placing eighth in the 20-team field at Mid Pines Golf Club.
The Red Storm closed out the tournament with a team score of 11-over, 875. On Wednesday, the Johnnies carded a 7-over, 295, to close out the event.
Richmond took home the team title in Southern Pines, N.C. carding a 6-under, 858, in Tar Heel State. Bowling Green's Pedro Garcia, Richmond's Carson Baez and VCU's Carson Looney all finished tied atop the 100-golfer field shooting a 6-under, 210, over three rounds of action.
Matthew DiFiore led the Red Storm with a team-best 15th place finish. The freshman posted a 1-under, 215. During the final round, the Malverne, N.Y., native posted a team-low, 1-under, 71. Eli Weidmann tied for 19th place on the leaderboard registering a 1-over, 219, over 54 holes.
Joseph Dolezal finished second among the tournament field adding another eagle to his scorecard on the 537-yard par-5 sixth hole. The sophomore finished the event tied for 32nd place logging a 4-over, 220. In the third round, the Old Westbury, N.Y., native added a 2-over, 74, to close the event.
St. John's will be back in action on Monday when it competes in the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley Golf Club in Greenville, N.C.
