The Johnnies have shut their opponent out six times this season
QUEENS, N.Y. – Coming off a two-win weekend, the St. John's men's tennis team (13-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) swept regional rival Monmouth (10-3), 6-0, on Tuesday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Red Storm have now won 10 of their last 11 matches, improving to 13-2 on the 2026 campaign. In a singles-only matchup, St. John's claimed all six courts to secure the decisive win.
Venedikt Tsirikidze opened the scoring with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Luka Sauer Jimenez on the No. 5 court. Adam Groves followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win on the No. 6 court to give the Johnnies an early 2-0 advantage.
Maintaining momentum, Semen Agynskyy earned a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Jakob Bonnett on the No. 3 court. Reigning BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Radomir Tomic clinched the match with a hard-fought 6-3, 7-5 victory over Louis Keller on the top court.
Sergej Zivkovic and David Petrovic added wins on the No. 4 and No. 2 courts, respectively, to complete the 6-0 sweep in Queens.
St. John's will return to action on the road, traveling to the Bronx to face Yale at the Cary Leeds Center. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
