The Red Storm and Knights meet for 10th time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team is set to host FDU (7-8, 4-1 NEC) on Wednesday in Queens. First serve from the USTA National Tennis Center is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
The Red Storm (12-5, 4-1 BIG EAST) enter the matchup following a 4-2 conference victory over Georgetown in Flushing, N.Y. St. John's secured the doubles point with wins from Alicia Gomez and Abi Redman, along with Charlotta Buss and Giulia Bizzari.
In singles play, Buss and Noemi Babikova each recorded straight-set victories before Victoria Papadopoulou clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win on the No. 1 court.
FDU is coming off an impressive 2025 campaign in which it captured the NEC Tournament title following a perfect 6-0 conference record, earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Knights fell to then-No. 7 Virginia in the opening round.
This season, FDU has won two straight conference matches, defeating Binghamton, 7-0, and Chicago State by forfeit. After opening the year 1-3, the Knights have found consistency in NEC play and currently sit near the top of the conference standings.
St. John's holds an 8-1 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2008. The Red Storm will look to bounce back after a narrow 4-3 loss to the Knights in last season's meeting in Queens.
Following Wednesday's contest, the Johnnies will return to action on April 4 for a BIG EAST matchup against Seton Hall at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
