Men’s Golf to Tee Off at Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic

QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's men's golf team will return to action this week when it takes to the course for the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic at the Mid Pines Club for a three-day tournament, starting on Monday.
The tournament will be streamed live on YouTube courtesy of Babygrande Golf. Live scoring will be available throughout the event on SCOREBOARD. Play will begin at 8:15 on Monday and Tuesday and 9:05 a.m. on Wednesday in Southern Pines, N.C.
The Red Storm will compete in a 20-team field against- the hosts George Mason, Bowling Green State University, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, George Washington, Georgetown, James Madison, Loyola Chicago, Old Dominion, Ohio University, Richmond, Robert Morris, Saint Joseph's, St. Bonaventure, St. Thomas (Minn), Towson University, South Dakota, VCU and William & Mary.
The Red Storm return to action coming off its fourth top-3 finish in its last five events, dating back to the fall. The Johnnies tallied a third place finish in a 15-team field at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in New Orleans on Feb. 23-24. St. John's shot a 52-over, 916, over 54 holes as a team at English Turn Golf & Country Club.
The Johnnies were led by Joseph Dolezal, who took home medalist honors for the first time in his career on the Bayou. The sophomore shot 9-over, 225, over three rounds. After sitting in 16th place heading into the final 18 holes, the Long Island native carded a scorching 3-under, 69, to finish atop the field winning the tiebreaker. Dolezal went onto win BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honors for te first time in his career on Feb. 26.
St. John's will compete in the Ross Collegiate Classic for the seventh straight season. Last year, the Red Storm finished in 10th place in the 20-team field. Dolezal paced the Johnnies with an 11th place finish.
Following this week's event, the Red Storm will remain in the Tar Hell State to compete in the ECU Intercollegiate on March 16-17.
