Men’s Golf Sits Tied for Fourth at Donald Ross Collegiate Classic

The Johnnies shot 3-under in the opening round at Mid Pines Golf Club
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C.- The St. John's men's golf team sits tied for fourth place in the 20-team field in the opening round at the Babygrande Donald Ross Collegiate Classic at Mid Pines Golf Club.
The Johnnies shot 3-under, 285, in Monday's opening round in Southern Pines, N.C., seven shots behind Richmond for the tournament lead.
Eli Weidmann paced the Red Storm, tying for seventh place in the 100-golfer field. The rookie carded a 3-under. 69, at Mid Pines. The Murphys, Calif., native ranked atop the field logging a 3.70 stroke average on par 4's on Monday.
Fellow freshman Matthew DiFiore was the second Red Storm golfer to finish under par shooting a 1-under, 71, in the opening round. The Malverne, N.Y., native is tied for 18th place in the field after the first 18 holes. Reigning BIG EAST Golfer of the Week Joseph Dolezal posted an even par, 72, good for 28th place.
Max McColgan rounded out the scorers for St. John's finishing with a 1-over, 73, to claim 40th place heading into the clubhouse.
The second round will begin tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. with live results available on SCOREBOARD and a live stream available on YouTube.
