The Red Storm exploded for five-run third inning to roll past the Jaspers
QUEENS, N.Y. — The St. John's softball team defeated Manhattan, 9-2, fueled by a five-run third inning on Wednesday afternoon at Red Storm Field.
The Red Storm (27-16, 6-9 BIG EAST) scored nine runs on 12 hits in the contest. Natasha Limbani paced the offense with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, tying her season-high with three hits and two runs scored. London Slade added two hits and an RBI, while Mya Laroya delivered a two-RBI triple for her first three-bagger of the season and matched her season high with two RBIs. Sarah Post added two RBIs in the victory.
In the circle, Loreley Francia earned her 13th win of her senior campaign allowing two runs, one earned, on just three hits across five innings of work. Avery Neuman and Abbey Feld combined to toss two scoreless innings of relief to close out the victory.
With the win, the Red Storm moved to a perfect 6-0 at home this season against non-conference opponents and exceeded eight or more runs for the 11th time during the 2026 campaign.
St. John's jumped in front in the bottom of the first inning. Slade singled before Elanna Lysiak drew a walk and Limbani followed with a base hit to load the bases. Post then lined a two-run single to give the Johnnies an early 2-0 lead.
Manhattan cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second inning after a wild pitch allowed a run to score.
The Red Storm broke the game open in the third inning with five runs. Limbani singled and later scored before Makenna Meadows added an RBI. Slade followed with a run-scoring hit as the Johnnies pushed their lead to 7-1.
The Jaspers plated an unearned run in the fifth inning to make it 7-2.
St. John's further extended its lead in the bottom of the frame. Limbani singled again before Laroya lined a triple to right field to score a pair of runs and extend the Red Storm advantage to 9-2.
Neuman and Feld combined to retire the final six Manhattan batters to seal the victory.
The Johnnies will host BIG EAST rival Creighton for a three-game series at Red Storm Field from April 17-19 this weekend. All three contests will be broadcast on ESPN+, with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
