Men’s Golf Heads to Rutherford Intercollegiate

Red Storm will compete at Penn State over the weekend
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's golf team will head to the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State, over the weekend.
The Red Storm will compete in its final regular season tournament of the 2025-26 campaign at the Penn State University Golf Club- Blue Course in University Park, Pa. The Johnnies will tee off at 8:33 a.m. on Saturday morning for their first of two rounds before finishing up the tournament on Sunday morning for the final round. Penn State's Blue Course is a par 71, 7,130-yard track.
The Red Storm line-up will feature- Eli Weidmann, Joseph Dolezal, Max McColgan, David Mlynek and Frank Wu. The squad will compete in a 13-team field against- Delaware, LIU, Rhode Island, St. Thomas, Loyola-Chicago, George Mason, Bucknell, Yale, UConn, Towson, Binghamton and the hosts, Penn State.
St. John's is coming off a 15th place finish at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational against top competition from across the country. The Johnnies carded a team score of 12-over, 876, over three rounds, including 6-under on the final 18 holes at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
Weidmann paced the squad in the Peach State posting a 2-under, 214, to take 41st place in a loaded field. The rookie has paced the Red Storm with a 72.5 stroke average and four top-20 finishes this season. Dolezal, ranks second on the team with a 73.3 stroke average and claimed medalist honors at the Gulf Coast Collegiate in February.
St. John's returns to the 49th annual Rutherford Intercollegiate for the first time in over 25 years. The Johnnies have won the event twice in 1985 and 1989 and have had two players Mal Smith (1990) and Andrew McKay (1999)
Following this weekend's tournament, St. John's will head to the 2026 BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP on May 2-4.
