Top-Seeded St. John’s Advances to BIG EAST Championship Match With 4-0 Victory over Fourth-Seeded Georgetown

The Johnnies will face second-seeded DePaul in tomorrow’s championship at 9 a.m.
CAYCE, S.C. – The top-seeded St. John's men's tennis team swept past fourth-seeded Georgetown, 4-0, on Saturday morning in the BIG EAST Semifinals in Cayce, S.C.
With the victory, the Red Storm punched their ticket to the conference championship match for the seventh consecutive season. St. John's will face second-seeded DePaul on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday's title match will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Jackson Shank on the call. Live scoring will be available on RedStormSports.com.
After a tightly contested doubles point, the Johnnies dominated in singles play to complete the sweep and defeat the Hoyas for the second time this season.
In doubles action, Danilo Raicevic and Radomir Tomic opened the match with a 6-1 victory over Cyrus Zia and Arthur O'Sullivan on the No. 1 court. Georgetown answered with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles, but Semen Agynskyy and Adam Groves secured the point with a 6-3 decision over Henry Williams and Burke Pablo.
Leading 1-0, St. John's carried its momentum into singles play. David Petrovic extended the advantage with a 6-4, 6-3 win over James O'Sullivan at No. 1 singles, while Groves added his second victory of the day with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Zia on the No. 6 court.
Agynskyy clinched the match on the No. 3 court, defeating Joshua Lamm-Bocharov, 6-4, 6-3, to secure the 4-0 final.
Sunday's championship matchup against DePaul marks the fourth consecutive season the two programs will meet in the BIG EAST Tournament, with the Blue Demons holding a 3-1 edge in those contests. It will also be the fourth time since 2019 the teams have faced off in the conference title match.
First serve is set for 9 a.m. from the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center.
