St. John’s Baseball Finishes 2026 Campaign as Consensus Top-25 Team

Red Storm ranked in all four final national polls for the first time since 2012
QUEENS, N.Y. – For the first time since 2012, the St. John's baseball program finished the 2026 campaign as a consensus top-25 team ranked in all four major national polls.
The Johnnies were slated as high as No. 20 in the D1Baseball rankings after advancing to the NCAA Tournament Super Regionals. The Red Storm also appeared at No. 21 in the NCBWA poll and No. 24 in both the Baseball America and USA Today Coaches' rankings.
The last time St. John's finished the year as a ranked team was in 2018 checking in at No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll. The top-20 D1Baseball ranking marks the program's highest finish in any poll in 14 years.
In 2012, the Johnnies last appeared in all four major polls and finished as high as no. 15 in both the Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper rankings. In addition, the squad was placed at No. 16 in the ESPN poll and No. 17 in the NCBWA poll.
Under the direction of ABCA/ATEC Northeast Regional Coach of the Year Mike Hampton and the BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year, St. John's made its 39th NCAA Tournament appearance, a mark that is tied for the 12th-most among NCAA Division I programs.
The Red Storm claimed its conference-leading 11th BIG EAST Tournament Championship and 10th regular-season crown, marking the fourth time in program history that the Johnnies won both titles in the same season.
After starting off the year with a 1-10 record, the Red Storm won 35 of its final 51 contests and held the nation's longest winning streak at eight games heading into the Super Regionals. St. John's swept through both the BIG EAST Tournament and the NCAA Tallahassee Regional posting a 6-2 overall record in postseason play. In league competition, the Johnnies went 15-6 and won all seven conference series for the first time since 2018.
