St. John’s Travels to Boston College for Monday Road Match

First road contest of the 2026 campaign will air on the ACC Network
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's soccer team will take on Boston College in its first road match of the 2026 campaign on Monday afternoon.
Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at Newton Campus Lacrosse & Soccer Field. Fans can tune into the contest on the ACC Network.
St. John's opened the 2026 campaign with a 2-1 setback against UMass at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium on Thursday night. After falling behind by two goals in the opening 12 minutes, the Red Storm responded with a strong second half, outshooting the Minutewomen, 5-1, over the final 45 minutes and cut the deficit to one in the 66th minute.
Junior forward Nora Basile provided the highlight for the Johnnies, scoring in her first appearance since returning from an injury that sidelined her for the entire 2025 season. The junior capitalized on a UMass miscue for her first goal since Oct. 31, 2024, while matching a career high and leading all players with five shots.
Graduate student goalkeeper Kayla Bower kept the Red Storm within striking distance making six saves against the Minutewomen. marking the eighth time in her last 10 appearances that she has recorded at least six stops.
St. John's tallied a 2-3-2 mark during non-conference competition last season and picked up a 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's in the second game of the 2025 campaign. Over the last five seasons, the Red Storm have gone unbeaten in matches immediately following the season opener, posting a 2-0-3 record.
St. John's and UMass will face off for the 21st time in a series that dates back to 1989. The Eagles hold a 13-5-1 edge all-time against the Red Storm. Last season, the first time the two teams competed since 2017, the Johnnies pulled out a scoreless draw at home with Bower recording a shutout and four saves. On the road against the Eagles, St. John's is seeking first victory in Chestnut Hill since a 2-1 overtime triumph on Sept. 6, 2015.
The Eagles are coming off a 5-8-5 campaign in 2025 and finished ninth in the ACC standings. BC welcomes 10 newcomers for the 2026 season. in addition to 13 returners who appeared in 14 or more games during last year's campaign.
The Eagles had an explosive start to the year with a 7-1 victory over Siena at home. Boston College had seven different goal scorers during its rout of the Saints and were paced by Sophia Reale and Tessa Barrett paced the squad with three points apiece.
Following Monday's match, the Red Storm will return to Queens for Senior Day on Thursday when it welcomes Towson for a 4 p.m. tilt.
