St. John’s to Host Towson for Senior Day on Thursday

The Red Storm will honor the five-member graduating class prior to Thursday’s kickoff
QUEENS, N.Y. –The St. John's women's soccer team will host Towson on Thursday for Senior Day.
Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium with Sam Sinder and Dexter Henry on the call from Queens. Fans can tune into the contest on ESPN+.
Prior to the game, the Red Storm women's soccer program will honor its five graduating student-athletes- Kayla Bower, Stephanie Cornelius, Daniela Monzon, Juliana Dane and Abby Fitzmaurice.
St. John's (0-2-0) battled Boston College in a tightly contested road matchup on Monday afternoon, ultimately falling to the Eagles, 2-1.
Erin Palmeri provided the highlight for the Red Storm, making an immediate impact in her collegiate debut. After missing the entire 2025 season due to injury, the sophomore needed just 16 seconds on the pitch to score her first career goal, cutting the deficit to one in the 67th minute. Nora Basile and Snæfríður Eva Eiríksdóttir assisted on the tally.
Basile has now recorded a point in each of the first two matches of the 2026 campaign and in three consecutive appearances dating back to Oct, 31, 2024.
Kayla Bower added four saves in goal to total 10 so far this season. The graduate student keeper owns a .714 save percentage over 180 minutes between the pipes for the Johnnies.
St. John's and Towson will face off for just the fifth time in a series that dates back to 2008. The Red Storm holds an undefeated, 2-0-2 edge all-time against the Tigers. The last meeting between the two teams was Aug. 22, 2024, where the pair came to a 1-1 draw. Towson struck first, but Athina Sofroniou answered back for the Johnnies with the equalizer in the 79th minute to tie the game.
The Tigers are coming off a 5-5-6 campaign in 2025 and finished fourth in the CAA North standings. BC welcomes nine newcomers for the 2026 season, in addition to 14 returners, including all three 2025 All-CAA honorees.
Towson's Kale'a Perry was selected as the CAA Preseason Player of the Year an preseason all-league selection, while Emely Rubio and Sophie Thibeault both earned a nod on the Preseason Honorable Mention list. The Tigers were tabbed to finish fourth in the North Division.
The Tigers picked up their first victory of the year with a 2-0 win at Mount St. Mary's. Perry and Meron Koro both scored in the outing to give Towson the season-opening win.
The Red Storm will return to action on Sunday for a short trip to Columbia at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium at 2 p.m.
