Bio
Ben Mallue is in his seventh season as an assistant coach with the men's soccer team. In his tenure as a full-time member of the coaching staff, Mallue has helped lead the Red Storm to three NCAA Tournament appearances as well as one BIG EAST Tournament crown.
Mallue has been instrumental in the program's recruiting efforts both domestically and internationally, and has also worked extensively with the goalkeepers. Mallue coached four-year starter Rafael Diaz, the program's all-time career-leader with 32 shutouts. Signed out of college to a professional contract by USL PRO squad Orlando City SC, Diaz was a two-time NSCAA All-Northeast Region honoree and a two-time All-BIG EAST selection, and earned both Soccer America All-Freshman and BIG EAST All-Rookie honors.
Prior to his hiring as an assistant coach, Mallue served the program as a graduate assistant for the 2009 season. As a senior, Mallue was a member of a Red Storm squad that went 19-3-3 and advanced to the 2008 NCAA College Cup.
A 2009 graduate of St. John's with a B.A. in government and politics, Mallue received his M.A. in government and politics from St. John's in 2012. Mallue and his wife, Molly, reside in Sunnyside, N.Y.
