Made 10 appearances, all in relief… with 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA… walked 14 batters and struck out three in 6.0 innings of work… tallied eight wild pitches and hit three batters… held opponents to a .150 batting average… threw two scoreless innings in as many appearances against Sacred Heart (March 5 and March 7)… retired all six batters he faced to pick up a win against Fordham (March 20).
As a Freshman (2020):
Made three appearances, all in relief, during the Red Storm’s shortened season… went 0-0 with a 12.27 ERA… made his collegiate debut at California (Feb. 23).
Before College:
A four-year letter winner at Saugus High School… a two-time All-Foothill League selection, earning first team honors in 2017 before finding a spot on the second team in 2018… also named to the All-SCV First Team in 2017… the no. 33 left-handed pitching recruit in the state of California according to Perfect Game.
Personal:
Brandyn Thomas Cruz… son of Guillermo and Kristin Cruz… has two sisters, Madison and Megan… chose St. John’s because of its prestigious baseball program and the opportunities for growth that it presents… lists his parents as the people he admires most and Deion Sanders as his favorite athlete… plans to major in business.
