Bio
As a Redshirt Senior (2020):
Played in nine games and made eight starts during the Red Storm’s shortened season… hit .143 but reached base at a .455 clip… walked 10 times and was hit by two pitches in just 32 plate appearances… drove in four runs and scored twice.
As a Redshirt Junior (2019):
Played in 39 games, 26 of which were starts… hit .276 while reaching base at a .400 clip… tallied three doubles and drove in seven runs… logged two hits, a walk and an RBI in back-to-back games against San Diego (March 4) and CSUN (March 5)… made it four straight games with a hit, going 3-for-4 with an RBI in the team’s win at UC Irvine (March 9)… singled, walked and drove in a run at Iona (March 13)… doubled against Kansas (March 16)… singled and scored a run at Saint Louis (March 31)… singled in four straight appearances between April 3 and April 6, including each game of the Butler series victory… went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored after entering as a pinch hitter against Wagner (May 7)… reached base in all four of his plate appearances at Creighton, going 2-for-2 and walking twice (May 12)… scored three runs in as many games during a crucial sweep of Seton Hall to end regular season play and secure a spot for St. John’s in the BIG EAST Baseball Championship (May 16-18)… scored twice and drove in a run against Creighton (May 24).
As a Junior (2018):
Missed the entire season due to injury.
As a Sophomore at Los Angeles Mission College (2017):
Helped the Eagles compile an overall record of 28-16, win a Western-State South Conference title and advance to the California Community College Athletic Association Super Regional... earned second team all-conference honors... hit .331 with a .433 on-base percentage... appeared in all 43 games with seven doubles, a triple and a home run... drove in 22 runs... struck out just nine times in 157 at-bats... a team captain.
As a Freshman at Los Angeles Mission College (2016):
Hit .301 with a .387 on-base percentage... registered a team-high 40 hits and drove in 18 runs... tallied five doubles and a triple... struck out just four times in a team-high 133 at-bats... earned all-conference honors... a team captain.
Before College:
Played four years of baseball at Chatsworth High School for Coach Tom Meusborn... also pitched on occasion for the Chancellors... played in the CIF City Championship Game at Dodger Stadium.
Personal:
Peter Joseph Abinanti... born in West Hills, Calif.... son of Joseph and Debra Abinanti... has an older sister, Jennifer... chose St. John's for its baseball program and the fact that he has lots of family in New York... lists Robinson Cano as his favorite athlete and Derek Jeter as the person he admires most... aspires to play professional baseball or become a physical therapist.
