Danielle Patterson was elevated to Director of Basketball Operations in June of 2024.
Patterson spent the final two years of her playing career with the Red Storm from 2021-23 and remained with the program as a graduate assistant this past season. In her new role, she will be responsible for the day-to-day logistical operations of the program.
During her playing career with the Johnnies, Patterson made 62 appearances over two seasons from 2021-23, including 15 starts. She averaged 6.7 points per game and shot 77.3 percent from the charity stripe playing an integral role in 2022-23. During the historic victory over No. 4/5 UConn, Patterson scored 20 points, which matched a career-high.
Prior to arriving in Queens, Patterson spent two years at Indiana and played one season for the Hoosiers in 2020-21. The forward appeared in 14 games in Bloomington.
Her first stop was at Notre Dame, where Patterson played in 66 games over two seasons and was apart of Fighting Irish's 2018 National Championship team.
In April, she was selected to participate in the prestigious "So You Wanna Be a Coach" program at the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four.
In addition to playing, Patterson completed multimedia internships hosting podcasts, appearing on radio shows and editing videos for SJU-TV, the video production arm the St. John's athletic department. An exemplary student, Patterson appeared on all-conference academic teams in the ACC, Big Ten and BIG EAST.
Patterson is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a McDonald's All-American game selection coming out Mary Louis Academy.
She graduated from Indiana with her bachelor’s degree in communications in sports broadcasting in 2021. During her time at St. John’s, she earned two master’s degrees in sports management and strategic management.
