NO. 3 NOTRE DAME DOWNS RED STORM, 84-49

Notre Dame remains undefeated on the season at 15-0, 4-0 in the BIG EAST, while the Red Storm fall to 5-8 and 0-3 in the league.
The Red Storm came out aggressive at the start as junior Rasheedah Brown (Newark, N.J.) drained a three-pointer from the right wing to give SJU a 5-4 lead. But later in the half the Fighting Irish flexed their muscles and, leading 10-9, scored 16 unanswered points to assume a 16-9 lead at the 11:11 mark. The burst was sparked by a pair of three-pointers by Niele Ivey.
St. John's demonstrated moments of brilliance but still found themselves in a 49-24 hole at the half. That deficit proved to be too large to overcome, though Brown came to life scoring 11 of her team-high 17 points in the second half. Brown, who also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, has now reached double figures in all 13 games and led the Red Storm in scoring for the sixth straight game. Senior Latasha Thompson (Newark, N.J.) was the only other SJU player in double figures with 14.
St. John's returns to Alumni Hall on Saturday, January 13, to host Miami in a BIG EAST matchup at 2:00.
