SJU Drops Second-Straight, Falls to Charleston, 1-0

Orsogna walked three batters, struck out seven and allowed only two hits in his second career start. All three of the sophomores walks came in the first inning, but he pitched out of the bases loaded jam and retired 12 straight batters at one point.
Charleston broke the scoreless in the bottom of the eighth inning . when Tom McCarty hit a leadoff single off of SJU junior reliever Brian Dorsey (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown). Pinch-runner Micah Smith stole two bases and scored on an RBI double from Justin Bransons.
Charleston starter Ryan Mau struck out eight in 7.1 innings and allowed six hits. Andy Hutchings registered the final out of the game for the save.
Junior centerfielder Charlie Bilezikjian (Staten Island, N.Y./Port Richmond) went 2-for-3, and junior third baseman Jason Kane (East Rutherford, N.J./St. Marys) went 2-for-4.
St. Johns plays on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. against Charleston Southern. Junior Tom Klemm (Salem, N.H./Salem) will start for the Red Storm.
