Tamulionis, Reid Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

Tamulonis was a 31st round pick (935th overall) of the St. Louis Cardinals, while Reid was taken in the 33rd round (978th overall) by the Cleveland Indians.
Tamulionis finished his senior season with a 2-2 record in 14 games, posting a team-best 2.11 earned run average. He struck out 20 batters in 21.1 innings of work and tied for the team-lead with two saves. He held opponents to a .153 batting average.
At St. John?s, Tamulionis posted a 3-4 record and seven saves in two years of action. He struck out 52 batters in 64.1 innings of work, holding opponents to a .195 batting average.
Tamulionis was a 31st round pick of the Texas Rangers in the 2002 MLB Draft, but bypassed their offer to return to school to finish his degree in criminal justice.
Reid, a junior, finished the 2003 season with a 3-3 record and a 3.74 earned run average, striking out 68 batters in 77.0 innings pitched. In BIG EAST action, he went 2-2 with a 2.83 earned run average and 48 strikeouts in 47.0 innings pitched. He ranked sixth in the league in innings pitched and held BIG EAST opponents to a .237 batting average.
After missing the 2002 season due to surgery, Reid developed into one of the top starting pitchers on the team, and was among the best in the BIG EAST during the last month of the season. In his last four starts, he carried only a 1-2 record, but allowed only five earned runs in 24.0 innings pitched for a 1.88 earned run average, with 27 strikeouts. He was named the BIG EAST?s Pitcher of the Week on May 19 after throwing a complete game five-hitter against Seton Hall, striking out eight batters in a 3-0 win.
In three years at St. John?s, Reid has a 5-5 record with a 3.73 ERA. He allowed 54 earned runs on 124 hits in 130.2 innings pitched, with 115 career strikeouts. He was the recipient of this year?s St. John?s Howard Gershberg Award, presented to the top pitcher on the team.
