Monday, April 04, 2005, Queens, NY - The St. John's University women's track and field team hosted the Monday Meeting I this afternoon at DaSilva Memorial Field. The meet featured teams from all over the tri-state area including Seton Hall University, Manhattan College, Stony Brook University, Long Island University and Nassau Community College.
Graduate student Kerrian Stewart led St. John's placing first in the 400m with a time of 56.53. Tarashon Broomes finished in second place in the same event, crossing the line at 59.65. Kellie Brown placed second in the 100m at 13.41 and was closely followed by teammates LaToya Wilmot (3rd, 13.51) and Jennifer Lewis (4th, 13.65).
Blessing Egwu (12.82m), Judy Owens (11.90m) and Tetee Kuyateh (11.57m) rounded out the top four in the shot put for the St. John's throwing unit. In other field events, Kellie Brown placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.27m, while Judy Georges placed third at 5.19m.
The Red Storm returns to action this weekend when they will travel to Clemson, SC for the Clemson Invitational.
