Postgame Notes
- Five players made their debuts for the Red Storm, with freshmen Rich Armento, Gino Matias and Steve Vitale and junior transfers Ryan Mahoney and Luis Monell all seeing their first game action in a St. John's uniform.
- Outfielders Eddie Schultz and Will Vogl both recorded outfield assists in the game. Schultz threw Texas Tech's Jason Seefeld out at the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning, and Vogl relayed a well-played ball of the wall to throw out Roger Kieschnick at third base in the first inning.
- Schultz moved into sole possession of seventh place on the school's career doubles list with his first of the season and 38th of his career.
- Sam DeLuca had two hits and scored two runs in the game. DeLuca tied a career-high with two runs (last vs. Ohio State, 6/6/05) and reached base for the 50th time in 56 career games at St. John's.
- The Red Storm defense didn't commit an error in the game, even though it was making a quick adjustment to Texas Tech's artificial turf surface. Last season, the team had 17 errorless games, with six of those coming in road games.
