Men's Fencing Finishes Sixth At NCAA Championships

The men's fencing team had four top-10 finishes, placing sixth overall in the 2006 NCAA Championships. Junior Adam Rodney (New Orleans, La.) had the most success for the Red Storm, taking sixth place in the men's epee.
Rodney earned 14 victories over 24 bouts during his first NCAA Championship appearance. He has had one of his most successful seasons while at St. John's, posting wins in both the epee and the foil.
Captain of the men's team, Benjamin Bratton (New York, N.Y.), also competed in the epee, coming in ninth. In 2005, Bratton earned a 10th place finish.
In his first NCAA Championship appearance with St. John's, Luther Clement (Prairie Village, Kan.) took eighth place in the sabre. The sophomore recorded 16 victories overall. Clement is a transfer from Columbia University and competed against his former teammates while at the championship tournament.
Newcomer Nikita Tsukhlo also competed in the sabre and finished 18th overall.
Sam Wunderlich (Louisville, Ky.) was part of the five-man roster competing for St. John's at the tournament and finished 10th in the foil. This was his first trip to the NCAA Championships and he earned 11 victories.
St. John's finished with 139 points, taking sixth overall. The top-five schools were Harvard University (165), Penn State (159), Ohio State (155), Notre Dame (152) and Columbia (148).
