Track and Field Concludes Competition At The Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA. - The St. John's track and field team completed the third and final day of competition at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
The 4x200 meter relay team finished fifth in the ECAC division, clocking in at 1:37. 71. Members of this relay squad included Thalene King (Manchestar, Jamaica), Tarashon Broomes (Fair Lawn, N.J.), Kaydian Reid (Windsor, Conn.) and Phobay Kutu-Akoi (Silver Spring, Md.)
Meanwhile, the 4x800 meter relay crossed the line in 9:12.88 for 13th place overall and was 10th in its heat. The squad's performance qualifies it for the ECAC Championships. Members of the 4x800 team included Thamara Cherisme (Queens, N.Y.), Jasmine Barreto (Staten Island, N.Y.), Nerissa Pelle (St. John's, Antigua) and Rakibat Abiola (Staten Island, N.Y.).
The Red Storm returns to action Sunday at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn. Next weekend, St. John's will compete for the BIG EAST Championship in Storrs, Conn.
