St. John's Track And Field Hosts Twilight Meet

QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's track and field team hosted the Twilight Meet Thursday afternoon at DaSilva Memorial Field. Four Red Storm athletes finished in either first or second place.
Thalene King (Manchestar, Jamaica) and Phobay Kutu-Akoi (Sliver Spring, Md.) crossed the line in first and second place in the 200 meter dash. King clocked in at 24.85 seconds while Kutu-Akoi finished in 25.02 seconds.
Nerissa Pelle (St. John's, Antigua) captured first place in the 400 meter dash, recording a time 57.90 seconds. She also competed in the 800 meter run, finishing in 2:34.85 for fourth place.
Geraldine Brevil (Brooklyn, N.Y) placed second in both the long jump and the triple jump. She recorded a jump of 4.27 meters and a leap of 9.13 meters, respectively.
The Red Storm returns to action Saturday when it hosts the Night of Hammering at Ichan Stadium in Randall's Island, N.Y. The competition is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
