QUEENS, N.Y. - Head coach Amy Kvilhaug and the St. John's softball team hosted the second annual 100-out fundraiser game this past Sunday. All players and coaches participated in the event benefiting the Red Storm softball program. The squad was split evenly into red and white teams and played through the day for one hundred outs. In the end the white team edged the red team 12-11.
"I thought the entire day was a great success," said coach Kvilhaug. "It was definitely a win-win situation for the program as we were able to raise money while working on in-game situations."
The team was split evenly and utilized this opportunity to fine tune their skills and go over specific situations that may be faced in their upcoming games. The white team was headed by assistant coach Laura Taylor and players Kat Lawrence, Lisa Geer, Bionka King, Chelsea Durning, Alyson Funn, Kacee Cox, Megan Soricelli, and Brandy Reyes. The red team was comprised of Linzee Sumrall, Chelsea Plimpton, Shauntaine Harris, Melissa Pilley, Danielle Estrada, Erin Harris, Ona Halladay, Roxy Struble, and assistant coach Amanda Walling.
The Red Storm takes on Dowling College and Adelphi this Saturday October 13 in Queen, N.Y. This is the final fall tournament of the year for St. John's. The first game begins at 11 a.m. at Red Storm Field.
