Red Storm Fencing Has Solid Showing At Olympic Trials

RICHMOND, Va. - At the Olympic Trials this weekend in Richmond, Va., the St. John's men's and women's fencing teams competed and finished with strong results.
In the women's epee sophomore Tanya Novakovska placed second in the trials, while Monika Golebiewski finished seventh in the foil. Senior Katia Larchanka also finished in 13th place in the trial. Dagmara Woziak, one of two redshirt fencers that left the team in hopes of making the Olympic team, placed third in the sabre.
Senior captain Luther Clement finished ninth in the sabre and junior Mykhaylo Mokretsov placed 20th in the epee. Also for the men, Brendan Meyers finished 22nd, Henry Kennard placed 26th, and Alexis Landreville finished 28th in the men's foil.
The Red Storm fencing team travels to Atlanta, Ga., from January 18-21 for the NAC (Division I) Junior Olympic Trials.
