St. John??' Women??' Tennis Tops Rutgers, 4-3

The St. John???s women???s tennis team won its third straight contest as it defeated Rutgers, 4-3, Thursday afternoon on the Courts at St. John???s.
The Red Storm is now 4-6 on the season and 2-2 in BIG EAST action. Meanwhile, the Scarlet Knights fall to 4-8 overall and 1-3 against conference opponents.
The Red Storm took an early one point lead after winning the doubles point. Alison Adamsi and Nataly Tumsevica overpowered Anela Dujsic and Katherine Arlak, 8-5, at No. 1 doubles, while Maria Zivcicova and Ira Aleksova were victorious at second doubles with an 8-1 win over Katrina Elder-Bush and Caitlin Baker. After the Red Storm won the point, Ashley Harper and Lauren Leo retired their No. 3 match against Lauren Edelschein and Christine Tran.
St. John???s went on to record its next three points in the middle of the line up. Tumsevica improved St. John???s score to 2-0 with a win at the No. 2 spot. She swept Dujsic (6-0, 6-0). Adamski won her match (6-2, 6-1) at third singles against Arlak. Freshman Aleksova secured the victory at fourth singles after topping Baker (6-3, 6-3).
The Red Storm returns to action on March 27 against the Pirates of Seton Hall. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. in South Orange, N.J.
