Red Storm Finds Success At ECAC Indoor Championships

The St. John???s women???s track and field team had a complete turn-around from last weekend???s BIG EAST Championships with a victorious showing at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 3-4.
The Red Storm closed out the two-day event with one ECAC Champion, two Top 3 finishes, three Top 10 scores and 16 total points with just four athletes competing in five events.
Senior Maxcine Foster became the 2007 ECAC Champion as she hit the NCAA provisional time with her 53.72 second, personal best time in the 400 meter dash. Foster has declared for the NCAA Championships and will wait to hear if she will be traveling to Fayetteville, Ark, on March 9. Currently, Foster is 21st on the NCAA list for the 400 meter dash. Typically, the NCAA Championships will take the first 16-18 times.
Foster easily defeated BIG EAST Champion, Mandela Graves-Fulgham from University of Connecticut by 1:04 seconds, earning 10 points to the Red Storm???s team total.
Tetee Kuyateh threw two personal bests at the ECACs with a third place finish in the weight throw and a 10th place finish in the shot put. Kuyateh threw 17.55 meters in the weight to finish behind Bucknell???s Marjor Grap and Lafayette???s Ashley Harbin, and add another six points to the Red Storm???s score.
In the shot put, Kuyateh just missed the finals by .03 meters with a personal best throw of 14.09 meters.
Junior Dominque Eason also threw Top 12 score in the weight throw with a distance of 15.57 meters in her first trip to the ECACs.
Also making her first trip to the ECACs, Phobay Kutu-Akoi ran her fourth fastest time with a 24th place finish of 7.84 seconds in the 60 meter dash.
