Foster Earns NCAA Regional Time At Miami Elite Invitational

With a time of 54:06, senior Maxcine Foster sprints her way to NCAA qualification in the 400 meter dash at the Miami Elite Invitational, Saturday afternoon at Cobb Stadium.
The time was good enough for a Top five finish for Foster. Thalene King and Asia Nettles placed 10th and 19th behind Foster with times of 56.63 and 59.11 respectively.
Foster also finished first for the Red Storm in 200 meter dash with a fourteenth best time of 24.36 and ran the anchor split of the sixth place 4x400 meter relay team later in the day.
The regional qualification time is her second of the year, as she qualified for the indoor NCAAs earlier in the year for the same event.
Also highlighting the meet, senior Tetee Kuyateh finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.44 meters, qualifying Kuyateh for BIG EAST and ECAC competition. Kuyateh also led the Red Storm in the shot put with a fourth place throw of 13.94 meters, also good enough for both ECAC and BIG EAST standards. Kuyateh also finished 13th in the discus throw with a distance of 39.59 meters, narrowly missing the BIG EAST distance of 40.00 meters.
Asia Davy also had a Top 10 finish at the Miami Invitational, finishing ninth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.76, qualifying her for BIG EAST competition as well.
In other track events, Phobay Kutu-Akoi placed 15th in 100 meter dash, with a time of 12.11. Jennifer Lewis, Paula Rennalls and Alecia Sewell followed Kutu-Akoi placing 20th, 28th and 29th, respectively.
The women???s 4x100 relay team of Rennalls, Sewell, Kutu-Akoi and Lewis crossed the line at 48.05 for an eighth place finish and a spot at the ECAC Championships in May.
Kutu-Akoi, King, Lewis, Rennalls and Nettles also finished behind Foster in the 200 meter dash finishing 29th, 30th, 36th, 48th and 49th, respectively.
Sophomore Rakibat Abiola finished in the Top 20 for both distance events with a 13th place time of 5:20.62 in the 1500 meter run and a 16th place time of 2:24.98 in the 800 meter run.
In the jumping events, Kellie Brown and Fayanne Francis swapped team leading scores in the triple and long jump. Brown finished first for the Red Storm in the triple jump with a distance of 11.32 meters, a 12th place distance at the meet, while Francis placed 14th in the event with a 11.08 meter jump.
Francis finished up fifth in the long jump with a BIG EAST qualifying distance of 5.69 meters. Brown finished six spots behind Francis for an 11th place jump of 5.35 meters.
For the throwing competition, Kesheila Reid and Dominque Eason came in at 13th and 15th behind Kuyateh in the shot put with throws of 11.43 meters and 9.74 meters, respectively.
Reid finished first for the Red Storm in the discus throw with a sixth place throw of 45.20 meters, qualifying her for the BIG EAST Championships in early May.
In the hammer throw, all three athletes earned Top 10 marks as Eason and Reid followed Kuyateh???s 50 meter throw with a distance of 40.87 meters and 36.14 meters, respectively, placing them at seventh and ninth.
